How do I use a smartcard?

  1. Register for your smartcard
  2. Choose delivery to smartcard when you purchase tickets
  3. Tap your smartcard on a reader to load tickets, go through gates and start your journey
  4. Use your card again and again. You can have multiple tickets on your card at any one time.

'The Glasgow Boys'

Speaker: Lachlan Gouldie

'Some of the most popular paintings in the collection are by a group of radical young painters who came to be known as 'The Glasgow Boys'. They represent the beginnings of modernism in Scottish painting. In the early 1880s, united by their disillusionment with academic painting, they painted contemporary rural subjects, and often worked out of doors sketching and painting directly in front of their subject.' 10.00 - 15.00

A two day course on 30th October and 6th November 2019 at Godinton House.

'Humphry Repton was the self-appointed successor to Capability Brown, although his later designs differed quite considerably and much of his success was due to his brilliant marketing tool of the 'Red Book'. The cult of the Picturesque was an important phenomenon in the 1790s – this course will examine Repton's garden designs and consider the effect of the Picturesque theorists, both on his work, and the wider cultural landscape. £75 including tea/coffee and home-made cake.'
