Publication of Local Election Notices
Local elections for all Kent County Council seats and the position of Kent Police and Crime Commissioner (postponed since May 2020)
The publication of election notices will start the six week pre-election purdah period across the borough of Ashford. The term 'purdah' is in popular use across central and local government to describe the period of time immediately before elections or referendums, when there are specific restrictions on the activities of civil servants, local authorities and other public bodies. The term 'pre-election period' is also used.
The next elections for all seats on Ashford Borough Council, and all parish councils across the borough are due to take place in May 2023

National Census 2021

National Census day: Sunday 21st March 2021.
The census is a once-in-a-decade survey that gives us the most accurate estimate of all the people and households in England and Wales. It has been carried out every decade since 1801, with the exception of 1941.
This Census will be the first one to be run predominantly online. Households will receive a letter with a unique access code to allow them to complete the questionnaire by computer, phone or tablet.

All About the AGAR Workshop to help successful completion of the Annual Governance and Accountability Return (AGAR) for the year-ending 31st March 2021

The workshop is designed to help novice and experienced Clerks/RFO's to successively complete the AGAR for the year-ending 31 March 2021.
The workshop will dissect the Instructions emailed to all registered Clerks/RFO's by the external auditor PKF Littlejohn to aid completion of the AGAR.
Section 1 – Annual Governance Statement 2020-21
- Help with making sure your Council has complied with the 9 Assertions and the evidence required to support those assertions.
Section 2 – Accounting Statements 2020-21
- Provide tips and best practice on the completion of the supporting information required including the bank reconciliation, the explanation of significant variations AND
- the additional requirements for those Councils subject to the "Intermediate Level Procedures" (i.e. those selected as part of the 5% sample and those with income or expenditure greater than £200,000) AND
- the additional requirements for those Councils able to "claim exemption"
