The Rivers Trust's Sewage Map: A user's guide

Sewage is discharged into rivers across the UK and Ireland on a daily basis. This isn't an isolated problem; it occurs up and down the country, affecting urban city centre rivers and pristine chalk streams alike. The Rivers Trust Sewage Map shows where this happens.

The Five Church Walk (anti-clockwise)

Mon, 02 May 2022 10:00

The Five Church Walk 2022

In aid of the five churches on the route, Kent Air Ambulance and the Pilgrims Hospices

The 2022 walk will be anti-clockwise. Register at any of the five churches and pay a minimum of £5 cash or cheque only on the day.

Check website for details

You can start the walk at any time from 10.00 onwards, from either Chilham, Godmersham, Boughton Aluph (All Saints), Challock or Molash churches.

The well-marked paths link these churches in a clockwise circular 16 mile route following footpaths, bridleways, country lanes and private paths made available by special permission of the land-owners.

The route is in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and it passes through some of the most scenic countryside in East Kent for all to enjoy, and with millions of bluebells in flower and the cuckoo calling you can be sure of a lovely day. You can choose to complete the whole circuit or any part of it, and start and finish at any of the five churches.

This will be the thirty third annual sponsored walk, held in aid of the five participating churches, the Kent Air Ambulance and/or the Pilgrims Hospices. The funds raised are distributed according to your wishes. Those without sponsors are also more than welcome and are asked to make a minimum donation of £5 each. Each church also offers delicious home-made refreshments (and loos) while you take a welcome break.

Please download an entry form here and a sponsorship form here

Living Streets campaign

"We want to enable as well as encourage more families to walk to school. We're here to help parents who are worried about safety around their child's school. Car-free zones, 20mph limits and better crossings can all help make the walk to school safer and we're here to help people campaign for them in their area."
