The Five Church Walk (clockwise)
Mon, 01 May 2023 10:00
The Five Church Walk 2022
In aid of the five churches on the route, Kent Air Ambulance and the Pilgrims Hospices
The 2023 walk will be clockwise. Register at any of the five churches and pay a minimum of £5 cash or cheque only on the day. (Check website for details)
Start the walk at any time from 10.00 onwards, from either Chilham, Godmersham, Boughton Aluph (All Saints), Challock or Molash churches.
The well-marked paths link these churches in a clockwise circular 16 mile route following footpaths, bridleways, country lanes and private paths made available by special permission of the land-owners.
The route is in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and it passes through some of the most scenic countryside in East Kent for all to enjoy, and with millions of bluebells in flower and the cuckoo calling you can be sure of a lovely day. Choose to complete the whole circuit or any part of it, and start and finish at any of the five churches.
This will be the thirty third annual sponsored walk, held in aid of the five participating churches, the Kent Air Ambulance and/or the Pilgrims Hospices. The funds raised are distributed according to your wishes. Those without sponsors are also more than welcome and are asked to make a minimum donation of £5 each. Each church also offers delicious home-made refreshments (and loos) while you take a welcome break.
Please download an entry form here and a sponsorship form here

In Chaucer's Footsteps - Pilgrimage to Canterbury
Mon, 29 May 2023 10:00
London to Canterbury Pilgrimage
Walk in Chaucer's footsteps from St Martin in the Fields, Trafalgar Square to Canterbury. Much of the 74 mile route follows ancient paths along the North Downs. The pilgrimage will take place from Friday, 26th May to Monday 29th May.
Pilgrims will pause for refreshments at All Saints, Boughton Aluph between about 10.00 and 12.00
If the weather is inclement there is usually a welcoming fire burning in the fireplace in the south porch. This is an unusual feature to find in a church, but it has served many previous generations of pilgrims on their way to the shrine of St Thomas Becket
The pilgrimage raises funds for The Connection, based at St Martin in the Fields since 1948. The charity helps homeless people by providing specialist services – including a day and night centre, outreach for rough sleepers, skills training and career advice, activity programmes and specialist support for complex needs – to over 200 people in central London every day.

- All Saints, Boughton Aluph.
