Highways England has closed a 16 mile section of the M20, and is working overnight to be ready to activate the new Operation Brock contraflow at 06.00 on Monday 28th October 2019. Volunteers go in at the deep end
Volunteers from Kent Search and Rescue volunteers were back in the River Stour below Wye bridge today. Team members practiced their Bank Search and Flood Rescue techniques for rescuing people from floods, and trained for the grim task of searching the river and water margins for bodies. Despite recent rainfall, the river level remains very low.

Wye Surgery closed its fax line 3rd October
Last year the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care announced that the NHS will phase out all fax machines by 31 March 2020 and must use secure email instead to improve patient safety and cyber security. Wye Library will open for an extra ten hours a week, starting today Monday 30th September.
This welcome news follows a county-wide review of all 99 of Kent's libraries. The review ranked Wye in the third of five tiers, based on its relatively high level of use, alongside libraries in much larger settlements like Tenterden, Cranbrook and New Romney.

Wye Level Crossing - expect extra delays on Monday and Tuesday
Network Rail plans to restrict traffic flow over Wye level crossing on Monday 9th September and Tuesday 10th September. This is to enable "crossing white line and yellow box painting" and the traffic lights are bound to add to the normal delays. A broken rail disrupted train services through Wye this morning
Network Rail identified a broken rail between Chilham and Chartham earlier this morning. This has caused disruption to services between Ashford International and Canterbury West. Engineers have carried out the necessary repairs, and the line is now open, but with a 20 MPH speed restriction. Appeal dismissed on the Former Goods Yard, Wye
A Planning Inspector has dismissed an appeal on the Former Goods Yard site. He found that the scheme was in conflict with Local Plan and Wye Neighbourhood Plan (WNDP) policies.
