High Street Wye closed for repairs
Without warning KCC has issued a temporary road closure notice for a week to enable repairs to a dangerous inspection cover in the High Street Wye, opposite the former Wye College Porters Lodge. The drain cover worked loose again and the tarmac around the fitting was breaking up and sinking, creating a hazard, especially for cyclists. This is the third time in the past 26 months that this particular fitting has needed a similar repair. The contractors for South East Water closed the road between The Green and Golden Square on Friday. The road closure permit runs from the 9th to the 15th November.
Olantigh Road is also subject to roadworks. Delays are being caused by the digging of trial holes for services in connection with development at Wye School. The permit for these works will end Monday 12th November. KCC Highways plans to repair potholes in Harville Road at the entrance to Palmstead Nursery between 12th and 14th November.
