Working for Wye - past, present and future

Olantigh Road is closed to all traffic

Olantigh Road is closed to all traffic

Olantigh Road, Wye is now closed to all traffic for sewer connection works at the entrance to Wye School. The road will remain closed during the school half term holiday, from today, Saturday 16th February until Saturday 23rd February. (Wye level crossing, Bridge Street will be closed all day Sunday 24th February). The road works at the junction with Occupation Road will not affect pedestrian access to the North Downs Way National Trail through Wye. KCC Highways' Information Bulletin A698S – Olantigh Road, Wye also advises that due to the nature of these works, it will not be possible to re-open the road outside the working hours; and that:

  1. The works have been timed to be carried out during the school holidays, to reduce their impact
  2. There is a chance that the works may over-run for such reasons as adverse weather conditions or unforeseen engineering difficulties;
  3. Access to Occupation Road will be maintained from one or other direction as signposted on site; initially from Canterbury direction then later from Wye direction;
  4. Local access to the remainder of Olantigh Road continues from either direction up to where the road is actually closed;
  5. The alternative route for all through traffic is via High Street, Churchfield Way, Bridge Street, Harville Road, A28 Canterbury Road and The Street back to Olantigh Road.
