Working for Wye - past, present and future

No trains through Wye for the next five days

No trains through Wye for the next five days

Southeastern will not run any trains across the region on Christmas Day, or Boxing Day. However, planned engineering work at Ashford station, starting Friday 27th December through to Sunday 29th December, will continue to affect the Ashford to Canterbury line. Nor will any High Speed (HS1) services to London via Ashford run for these three days. Instead Southeastern will operate a replacement bus service between Ashford and Canterbury as major track engineering work to replace switches and crossings and upgrade the third rail (see image) will make it necessary to close both the up and the down lines.

Rail replacement buses will run from the first services scheduled on Friday morning 27th December until the last services on Sunday night 29th December. Buses will replace trains between Ashford and Canterbury West, starting with the first services timetabled to leave Wye (05.54 to Ashford and the 06.02 to Canterbury). These buses will continue to run until the last services scheduled on Sunday night. For details, updates and alternative routes please see the National Rail Enquiries Journey Planner Network Rail has not applied to close the Wye level crossing gates over the Christmas holiday week, so Bridge Street should remain open. Normal train services should resume on Monday 30th December.

For the duration of these engineering works there will be no HS1 services between London St Pancras International and Margate via Canterbury West, or between London St Pancras and Ramsgate via Dover, and a shuttle train service will run between Canterbury West and Margate. Replacement buses will also run between Ashford and Ebbsfleet International.
