Working for Wye - past, present and future

Naccolt Road will close again from Monday 2nd March 2020 for about nine weeks.

Road closure and diversion signs. Naccolt Road will be closed from Monday 2nd March 2020

Kent County Council Highways has made another Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Naccolt Road. This latest road closure is necessary for safety reasons to enable South East Water's contractors to install a new water main in the vicinity of Pottery Cottages, and Herons Brook. These works will not deal with the separate problems of surface water flooding and drainage from the former Naccolt brickworks site.

South East Water plans to phase the excavation works on Naccolt Road, starting Monday 2nd March, and close sections between the junctions of the side-roads which lead to Blackwall Road. The job will start north of Spelders Hill with a current estimated completion date of 8th May 2020. However, the planned dates may change and contractors will work to complete the job as soon as possible. KCC Highways will place signs and barriers to indicate which section of the road is closed. Due to the nature of these works, KCC Highways will not re-open the road outside working hours.

KCC Highways will sign the nine mile alternative route for through traffic via Naccolt Road, Hinxhill Road, The Street, A2070 Kennington Road, Willesborough Road, the A28 Canterbury Road, Bramble Lane, Bridge Street, Churchfield Way, High Street, Upper Bridge Street, Oxenturn Road, and back to Naccolt Road. Access to Hinxhill and Brook from J10 should not be affected, and local access to the remainder of Naccolt Road will continue from either direction, up to the point where the road is actually closed.

South East Water has written to residents in Wye and Naccolt to warn them that domestic water supplies may have to be interrupted when the contractor connects the new main. If necessary, South East Water will give residents at least 48 hours' notice before disconnecting their water supply. South East Water's 24 hour emergency water supply number is 0333 0000 365.
