Working for Wye - past, present and future

Wye Road closed at Staple Lees, Hastingleigh

Notice of temporary road closure order, Wye Road Hastingleigh until 4th June 2020at

KCC Highways has closed Wye Road / Coldharbour Lane to through traffic, west of the junction with Cow Lees / Staple Lees. This temporary road closure is necessary to enable South East Water contractors to reinstate previous excavation works. The estimated completion date is Thursday 4th June 2020. Though, KCC warns that the timings may change for various reasons, including the current coronavirus situation. KCC has signed the shortest alternative route for through traffic via Amage Road, Brabourne Road, Pilgrims Way, New Barn Hill, New Barn Road and The Street (Hastingleigh) back to Wye Road. This diversion is approximately 6.5 miles.

There is local access to the remainder of Wye Road from either direction, up to the point where the road is actually closed. However, due to the nature of the works, it will not be possible to re-open the road outside the working hours. The Wye National Nature Reserve and the Devil's Kneading Trough remain accessible from Wye.
