Olantigh Road to shut for emergency sewer repairs

Emergency Road Closure Notice for Olantigh Road, Wye, valid from 12th August 2020

KCC Highways issued an emergency road closure Notice today to authorise Southern Water to block Olantigh Road to all through traffic, for up to ten days. Southern Water's contractors are not on site now and the road is open, but the permit is valid from 12th August for 21 days (until Wednesday 2nd September). To repair the sewer Southern Water need to dig up the road outside 10-12 Olantigh Road (near Leppers) TN25 5EJ. The alternative route is via High Street, Churchfield Way, Bridge Street and Bramble Lane Wye, the A28 Canterbury Road and The Street, Godmersham. Check with Southern Water for updates.

Southern Water should complete the sewer repairs before the end of the school holidays. Wye School is due to reopen for Term 1 on Thursday 3rd September (Years 7 and 12 only) and Friday 4th September (Years 7, 8, 9 and 12 only). Year groups 10, 11 and 13 will not start until Monday 7th September. This emergency repair appears to be unrelated to the Wye School sewer connection works last year. Legally the Temporary Prohibition of Driving Notice only applies between 09.00 and 18.00 hours each day whenever the warning signs and barriers are on site.
