Working for Wye - past, present and future

Four roads into Wye to close for repairs this week

Wye road closure warning signs

Olantigh Road, Naccolt Road, Wye Road (Coldharbour Lane, Hastingleigh Road) and Bockham Lane are all scheduled for closure during the forthcoming week. Harville Road will remain open, but be traffic controlled to enable drain clearance works. However, as the schools will remain closed there should be less traffic through Wye than normal.

Olantigh Road will close for up to three days from 09.00 Sunday 3rd January until 18.00 Wednesday 6th January, between Olantigh Manor and Middlefield Bungalow. This road closure will enable UK Power Networks to repair the high voltage cable that runs next to Olantigh Road. The alternative route is via High Street, Churchfield Way, Bridge Street, Bramble Lane, A28 Canterbury Road and The Street.

Naccolt Road will close for up to fifteen days from 06.00 Monday 4th January to 19.00 Monday 18th January. The road will close between the junctions of Spelders Hill and Oxenturn Road. This road closure will enable KCC Highways to build surface flood prevention works in the vicinity of Naccolt Brickworks. This will involve digging 220m of new ditch and the construction of new gullies and headwalls.

Wye Road Hastingleigh (Coldharbour Lane) will close from Monday 4th January in sections to enable BT to clear blockages and desilt its underground chambers. BT also plans several works in stages until 18th March. These works will affect roads all around Hastingleigh and Elmsted and include tree surgery, pole tests and the installation of overhead fibre.

Bockham Lane, Mersham will close for carriageway repairs from 07.00 Monday 11th January until midnight Thursday 14th January.

Harville Road will have stop/go boards in place Tuesday 5th January until Thursday 7th January between Kempes Corner and the Wye level crossing. Restricting sections of the road to single track will enable KCC Highways to clean drains along the one mile length of Harville Road and reduce the risk of surface water flooding, but it could cause delays. As always, highway works are weather dependent and subject to change. Please follow the link to the One.Network map for updated information.
