Working for Wye - past, present and future

Planned road closures today and tomorrow

Map of the planned road closure of Oxenturn Road Wye, starting 21st June 2021 for three days

KCC Highways has issued a notice to close a section of the A28 today. This is to enable Network Rail to remove a hazardous trackside tree. The closed section is between Branch Road and The Beeches Chilham where the track runs in a cutting adjacent to the A28. The diversion route is via Challock on the A251 and A252. Network Rail estimated that its contractors would need six hours for the tree works (04.00 and 10.00), but work appears to be overrunning. Please check the one.network and signage for updates.

What is certain is that Southeastern has replacement bus services running all day in place of HS1 services Sunday 20th June between Ebbsfleet International, Ashford International and Canterbury West. There are no trains in service between Ashford International and Canterbury West. Some buses are calling at the intermediate Wye, Chilham and Chartham stations. Before you travel check for the latest information and use the National Rail Enquiries Journey Planner, as train services may be subject to alteration at short notice. Please allow extra time for the replacement bus journeys if the A28 diversion via Challock is in operation.

Tomorrow, Monday 21st June KCC Highways plans to close Oxenturn Road, Wye for the next three days, to enable unspecified roadworks in the vicinity of Wye Surgery.
