Working for Wye - past, present and future

All five roads into Wye subject to disruption

Map of the Southern Water road closure and diversion, The Street, Willesborough from 11th April 2022

As lorries continue to queue for miles along the M20, all five routes into Wye will be subject to additional delays from road closures and diversions this week. Local journeys and emergency vehicle response times will be affected by three different sets of planned roadworks. Olantigh Road, Wye remains closed for a second week as the UK Power Network trenching works have overrun. These works are currently rescheduled to finish Friday 15th April 2022. On Monday 11th April a section of The Street, Willesborough will be closed to through traffic until Friday 22nd April 2022. Southern Water have a permit to close the road between 09.00 and 18.00 daily for sewerage works in the vicinity of number 66 The Street, Willesborough (see map). This site is about 50 yards from the junction with Kennington Road. The diversion route is signed via Hinxhill, Wye and the A28. When The Street is closed it will affect residents in the Willesborough area and north-bound traffic heading for Hinxhill, Naccolt Brook and Wye. Oxenturn Road will also form part of a third diversion route while BT Openreach close The Street, Brook (east of Troy Town Lane) and Brabourne Road (between Pickersdane and the junction with Hampton Lane). This one-day closure for pole inspections is scheduled for Wednesday 13th April 2022, between 09.30 and 15.30. The diversion route also affects Scotton Street, Coldharbour Lane and Hastingleigh Road (as far as the Folly Town crossroads). As always, the times and dates of planned roadworks may change for many reasons. Please check the one.network website for real-time updates, and allow extra time for journeys.
