M20 Operation Brock extended to 20 miles from J8 to J11

Operation Brock: a 20 mile queue of stationary lorries on the M20 between J8 and J11 (archive image)

Operation Brock is now Operation Zero: a 20-mile section of the M20 is closed coastbound between J8 (Maidstone), and extended to J11 (Westenhanger) to hold HGVs bound for Dover or Eurotunnel. Local journeys around Ashford are affected as National Highways is diverting all other coastbound traffic at J8 via the A20 to re-join the M2 at J11. However, drivers then face further queues and delays between Folkestone and Dover. The non-HGV diversion route on the A2070 passes the entrance to the William Harvey Hospital and access for emergency vehicles.

Please see National Highways' Operation Brock website for travel updates and @HighwaysSEAST and @Kent Highways. The National Highways' 24/7 contact centre team also provides up-to-the-minute information on 0300 123 5000.
