World record attempt to set off from Wye

David Charles of Thighs of Steel launches the final leg of the World Record attempt outside the Tickled Trout, Wye Saturday 18th September 2021

Intrepid cyclists will gather at the Tickled Trout in Wye on Saturday morning to complete their official Guinness World Record attempt. They will set out at 9am 18th September on the final 148km leg of their 2,400km ride. The marathon relay started in St Austell in Cornwall and will finish tomorrow in Dover. The Christmas Tree Festival in Wye church attracted hundreds of visitors

Thirty village groups and societies, individuals and families, schools, businesses, voluntary groups and the Parish Council have decorated thirty Christmas trees. Christmas treecycling scheme raised over £17,000 in 2017 for Pilgrims' Hospices

This year charity volunteers will collect Christmas trees for a donation on the weekend of 13th and 14th January 2018. The Pilgrims' Hospices tree collection service and fundraising event is only available in the Ashford Borough Council area. Online registration will close at midnight on Sunday 7th January. Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, Wye and District raised a total of £6,860.60 for the 2016 Poppy Appeal, during the year to the end of September. Yesterday, 40 volunteers started collecting door-to door for the 2017 Poppy Appeal.
