Thirty village groups and societies, individuals and families, schools, businesses, voluntary groups and the Parish Council have decorated thirty Christmas trees. Scotton Street - urgent road closure
Kent County Council has given advance notice of urgent road closure to Scotton Street on Friday 26th April 2019. It is expected that work will last for one day and start at 09.30 and run through until 15.30. The road will be closed between the junctions of Upper Bridge Street and Amage Road. Seventeen teams of up to 8 battled it out for victory and champagne prizes on Saturday night, with Wye Arts Association squeaking past the Growbags by half a point. They scored an impressive 86.5 points out of a possible 110. Level crossing to stay shut until mid July after a crash destroyed the gates
A quick-thinking level crossing keeper averted disaster after a Range Rover rammed the level crossing gates at Chartham ten days ago. Consequently the main access road between the village and the A28 is still closed to all traffic, and Network Rail does not expect to be able to replace the crossing gates until mid-July. Former bank in Wye to open as a yoga and therapy room
The former Lloyds Bank at 24 Church Street is to open again soon as a yoga and therapy room. As reported previously Ashford Borough Council approved a change of use application from retail for the 392sq ft room. The new leaseholder Alison Belsom has run yoga classes in Wye for over ten years. Alison is busy redecorating, and "hopes to open the premises before the start of the school holidays in July"....
