Wye residents rally round
An elderly lady went for a short walk to the Co-op for milk, but on the way she fell and injured herself. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon at the narrow junction of Church Street and Bridge Street. Church Street shop is 'no longer viable' for retail use
Ashford Borough Council has approved a change of use application for the ground floor of the former Lloyds Bank at 24 Church Street, from A1 (retail use) to a yoga and therapy room.
The planning application did not propose any internal or external changes to the fabric of the Grade II listed building, or new signage, but the decision will result in the loss of retail premises in the centre of Wye. The... Read More »

Bellringers raise £5m to strike back against blood cancer
Julie McDonnell founded Strike Back Against Blood Cancer and in June this year set out to raise £100,000 for Bloodwise, the blood cancer charity. Julie had a simple idea - ask fellow bellringers to ring a sponsored quarter peal at Wye Church, and then walk to Canterbury Cathedral, stopping to ring at other churches along the Pilgrims Way. Accident in Bridge Street, Wye
A cyclist was involved in a serious accident in Bridge Street, about 10.15 this morning. The Kent Air Ambulance attended, and landed on the Recreation Ground.
The accident happened between the Village Hall and the Tickled Trout, but Police closed the whole of Bridge Street for two hours and diverted buses and through traffic.

The Wife of Bath restaurant in Wye has a new owner.
Mark Sargeant, chef proprietor of Rocksalt in Folkestone, and former Head Chef of Claridge's, is working on a new menu featuring the best in local produce. Mark plans to open The Wife of Bath in November and is advertising for staff.
The celebrated restaurant with rooms marked its 50th year in business in 2013, but has been closed since March this year.

Joshan of Wye has a tin hat
The fire damaged listed Grade II building on Wye High Street is now weathered, just in time for the winter. The fire on 1st June caused considerable damage to the restaurant kitchen on the ground floor, and gutted the two first floor flats above the restaurant and the roof space, but nobody was injured.

Wye Tree Trail published by The Conservation Volunteers
TCV Kent have created eight tree trails in partnership with communities across Kent, including Wye.

Monday: Closed
Tuesday: 09.00 - 13.00
Wednesday: Closed
Thursday: 14.00 - 18.00
Friday: 09.00 - 13.00 and 14.00 - 17.00
Saturday: 09.00 - 13.00
Sunday: Closed
