Flood alert for the River Stour
The Environment Agency issued a flood alert this morning and advises people to 'be prepared' as river flooding is possible on the River Stour. Hinxhill Road remains closed, and Bockham Lane looks 'like a battlefield’
KCC Highways has extended the closure of Hinxhill Road to 21st February. This is to enable contractors to finish building a new T junction to access the Hinxhill Park housing development. Hinxhill Road closed for five weeks
The road closure order for Hinxhill Road, starts Monday 6th January. The Kent County Council Highways (prohibition of driving) order states that 'Hinxhill Road will be closed in the general vicinity of the rear entrance to William Harvey Hospital. Burst water main - Naccolt Road is closed
Southeast Water has closed Naccolt Road near the former brickworks for emergency repair work on a burst 3" water main. Diversion signs are in place. The road closure notice runs from Wednesday 4th December to the Friday 6th December. Stand by for Operation Brock
Highways England has closed a 16 mile section of the M20, and is working overnight to be ready to activate the new Operation Brock contraflow at 06.00 on Monday 28th October 2019. The Traffic England website and CCTV cameras showed the M20 closed in both directions between J7 (Maidstone) and J9 (Ashford) on Friday evening. The M20 is due to reopen at 06.00 on Saturday. Appeal dismissed on the Former Goods Yard, Wye
A Planning Inspector has dismissed an appeal on the Former Goods Yard site. He found that the scheme was in conflict with Local Plan and Wye Neighbourhood Plan (WNDP) policies. The property developer proposed to build fourteen three storey town houses off Bramble Lane, Wye adjacent to the railway line. Scotton Street - urgent road closure
Kent County Council has given advance notice of urgent road closure to Scotton Street on Friday 26th April 2019. Wye Goods Yard appeal start date announced
The planning application 17/1646/AS for 14 three storey dwellings on the former Wye Goods Yard site will be decided by an Inspector, not by Ashford Borough Council. High Street Wye closed for repairs
Without warning KCC has issued a temporary road closure notice for a week to enable repairs to a dangerous inspection cover in the High Street Wye, opposite the former Wye College Porters Lodge. The drain cover worked loose again and the tarmac around the fitting was breaking up and sinking, creating a hazard, especially for cyclists. Completely over the top
KCC Highways closed Church Street on Thursday morning to enable a mobile crane to install a glass apex roof at the rear of Swan House. The specialist crane from Essex lifted the large glass panels over the top of Wakelins shop and Swan House. KCC has postponed this road closure several times since November because of high winds and safety concerns.
