Working for Wye - past, present and future

Wye and District Poppy Appeal

Remembrance Day and the 99th Poppy Appeal this year are going to be very different. For example, for COVID-19 reasons there will be no traditional door-to door collections anywhere. However, there will be trays of traditional poppies in key locations around Wye and the surrounding parishes. Also, please look out for pop-up stalls in Church Street, Wye for extra items, including enamel 2020 poppy lapel badges, and commemorative VE75 badges.

The Royal British Legion is asking everyone to support the Poppy Appeal, but to take part in remembrance remotely.

As an entirely safe, quick and easy alternative to handling cash, the Poppy Appeal will be very grateful to receive your donation direct by text - just set up 70545 as a new contact number, then send a text.

Gift Aid

If you are a UK tax payer, please add Gift Aid to your text, cheque or QR code donation. This will increase the value of your donation by 25% - but at no extra cost to you.

As there will be no door-to-door collection in 2020, please collect a Poppy Appeal Gift Aid envelope for your cheque from Wye News, and complete the slip on the back of the envelope.

For further information on Gift Aid, please see Government guidance on tax relief when you donate to a charity. You can include all donations from the last 4 years.

Thank You - Every Poppy Counts

** Please note that for text donations, the systems will charge you either £2, £5, or £10 (plus one message at your standard network rate). The Royal British Legion will receive 97% and will contact you by text on the mobile number you used to give you the opportunity about how you would like to be contacted in the future, and to find out whether you would like to add Gift Aid to your donation.
